New Patch For Outlast 2 Tones Down The Difficulty
Outlast 2, the sequel to the brilliant and terrifying Outlast, has been out for a while now, and while the game is a solid follow-up, there are some issues that annoyed the players a bit, and the developers decided to fix them as soon as possible. The two problems that were addressed in this patch were the overbearing difficulty and the player's night vision camera, an essential tool required to see in the shadows, had a microphoned that drained all the extra batteries. When you're trying to survive in a hostile area full of deranged cult members, a night vision camera that's low on power makes it hard to survive, combine that with the brutal experience even on the Normal difficulty and you won't have much fun.
Players found even the Normal difficulty of Outlast 2 to be a bit too much, and you can't have a horror game that's imbalanced as it kills the overall atmosphere that the game creates. The balance was sorted out to fine-tune the experience on the Normal difficulty, and the Hard and Nightmare difficulties will still be there for players that want an immense challenge to overcome. This is what the developers said in the patch notes:
Today's patch introduces some minor adjustments to the game’s difficulty in key areas and moments. On Normal difficulty this will offer players a more appropriately balanced experience while still maintaining higher levels of challenge on Hard and Nightmare difficulties.
Another big issue was the camera and its microphone. The camera's microphone will no longer use extra batteries, which was greatly requested because the microphone is used to track your enemies through the wall, and when it drained the extra batteries the players were left with no way of knowing where the threats were.
It's good to see that the developers of Outlast 2 are working hard to fix any problems with the game, and there are more small tweaks in this patch that you can find in the patch notes.
