Persona 4 Revival is bringing one of Atlus’ most loved RPGs back in a much bigger and cleaner form. This is a full remake of Persona 4, the game where a group of students in the quiet town of Inaba get pulled into a murder mystery, a strange TV world, and monster fights powered by their Personas. If you missed the original or Persona 4 Golden, this is the best excuse to finally jump in and see why people still talk about Yu, Chie, Yosuke, Yukiko, Kanji and the rest of the Investigation Team like old friends.

The biggest change so far is not just the prettier look. Persona 4 Revival is also reworking combat with modern Persona ideas, and on paper, it sounds easier than the original. That is not automatically a bad thing. The old game could be stiff in dungeons, and the remake seems built to make fights faster, smoother and more stylish. Baton Pass is now part of the action, letting you hand an extra turn to another party member after triggering a “1 More.” That should make weakness-hunting much more fun, because you can chain attacks across the team instead of simply taking another swing with the same character.

 

 

Dungeons should feel faster and friendlier 

There is also a new dungeon guard system, where you can block enemy attacks while exploring and possibly stun Shadows before the fight begins. Add the new “Send Flying” mechanic, which lets status-affected enemies crash into others and spread ailments, and Persona 4 Revival suddenly looks way more generous with player options.

Then comes the big one: Prime Time. This new system fills a gauge during battle, and once it is ready, the party can go wild with consecutive actions, skills that cost no SP, attacks that ignore resistances, free Baton Pass usage, and a flashy finishing move. It sounds powerful, maybe even too powerful depending on how Atlus balances bosses and dungeon encounters. But it also sounds extremely fun, and honestly, Persona battles are at their best when the screen is exploding with style.

Definitivamente los Persona no son para mí. Ayer abandoné el Persona 5 Royal, como ya hice con Persona 3. Los combates me encantan pero los personajes hablan demasiado sobre tonterías.
Persona games are definitely not for me. I quit Persona 5 Royal yesterday, just like I did with Persona 3. I love the battles, but the characters talk way too much nonsense.

Atlus has shown off a generous amount of new gameplay from Persona 4 Revival, covering just about everything new players might want to know. Here are the main additions and changes. The entire game is now fully voiced, including the Social Link scenes. The English voice acting has been completely redone, with an entirely new voice cast. The soundtrack has been redone with new instruments and vocals, just like in Persona 3 Reload. You can now defend yourself from enemy attacks in dungeons, stunning them and making them vulnerable to ambush. You can now use the Baton Pass mechanic from other Persona games, which allows you to switch characters after hitting an enemy's weak point. A brand-new combat mechanic called "Send Flying" lets you strike an enemy afflicted with a status ailment, spreading that effect to other enemies. "Prime Time" is like an awakening state for your party members.

J’ai un avis assez mitigé sur Persona 4 Revival. D’un côté, le remake a l’air bien plus fluide et moderne, avec des combats plus dynamiques grâce au Baton Pass, aux nouvelles mécaniques de donjon et au système Prime Time qui apporte pas mal de spectacle. Ça semble franchement fun à jouer. Par contre, j’ai un peu peur que toutes ces nouveautés rendent le jeu trop facile ou déséquilibré. Le Prime Time a l’air particulièrement puissant, et j’espère qu’Atlus saura garder un minimum de challenge. Ça reste prometteur, mais j’attends de voir comment tout ça sera équilibré avant d’être totalement convaincu.
I have rather mixed feelings about Persona 4 Revival. On the one hand, the remake looks much smoother and more modern, with more dynamic combat thanks to the Baton Pass, new dungeon mechanics, and the Prime Time system, which adds a lot of spectacle. It looks genuinely fun to play. On the other hand, I'm a little worried that all these new features might make the game too easy or unbalanced. Prime Time seems particularly powerful, and I hope Atlus manages to maintain a minimum level of challenge. It's still promising, but I'll wait to see how everything is balanced before I'm completely convinced.

J'espère qu'ils conservent le choix de la difficulté dans ces jeux là, que l'on puisse avoir une expérience facile pour les débutants, et une plus challengeante, pour les joueurs aguerris.
