Respawn confirms that we won´t see a new Titanfall for a while
Respawn Entertainment has big plans for Apex Legends, and of course, they are also immersed in the development of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. With their hands so full they don´t seem to be interested in thinking on the development of another title of the Titanfall franchise, and that´s probably the best they could do if they want to deliver some good quality content for both games.

According to Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy, they are focusing exclusively on the creation of new content for the second season of Apex Legends and the launch of the next big title of the Star Wars franchise:
"It is important to understand that there are entirely separate development teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order." "Additionally, in order to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for future Titanfall games. No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order."
It´s true that Titanfall 2 is a great game and that the franchise deserves more content, it doesn´t matter if it comes in the form of extra DLC or a new title, but I honestly think that if they spread their resources too thin it could be the beginning of the end for the studio, especially when a name like Star Wars is involved. The huge fan base of the Star Wars franchise means that if you come up with a half baked product that will probably have a huge impact on your reputation as a game developer. It´s both a great opportunity and a risk. Also, Apex Legends is fighting against the biggest Goliath in the gaming world right now, and that is Fortnite. It was recently announced that the number of Apex Legends stream viewers has gone down 75 percent lately, while Fortnite numbers stay more or less stable. Respawn will need to make a huge effort with the content in their Battle Royale for it to be a firm competitor against the rest of the titles in a genre that has become insanely popular.
If the price to do so is leaving aside a possible Titanfall 3, It´s probably worth it, and I think we should be glad too because otherwise, we could end with three bad titles and a company that develops good games all going down the sink in a close future. "Don´t bite off more than you can chew" also works for video games development.
