Moving away from the Dungeons and Dragons license, Pillars of Eternity focuses on the world of Eorea, a place where souls are the base of magic. In the nation of Dyrwood, there are infants who have recently started to be born without a soul. In Pillars of Eternity, you will play as a Watcher who is able to see past lives and interact with souls. You will have to discover what caused the awakening of your power and how to solve the problem with the "hollowborn" children.

    As you progress through the story in Pillars of Eternity, you will recruit new companions that will be of great help in your travels. the game is played in real-time with an isometric view but it can be paused anytime to issue orders.
