FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

: How does the Investigator's sanity level directly impact the effectiveness of the flashlight and other investigation tools?
As sanity decreases, the flashlight beam may become distorted, and tools might provide less accurate readings, potentially leading to misinterpretations of evidence.; Can the type of entity haunting a location influence the behavior or reliability of the Ouija Board and other communication devices?
Yes, different entities may provide misleading answers or interfere with the communication devices in unique ways, requiring players to interpret their responses carefully.; Does the Investigator's chosen character class affect the rate at which sanity depletes or recovers, and how?
Yes, different classes may have varying levels of resistance to the entity's influence, or have specific advantages related to sanity management, influencing how quickly sanity drops or replenishes.; How do the environmental sound cues, like whispers or footsteps, change as the entity becomes more active, and what do they signify?
The intensity and frequency of environmental sounds increase as the entity's presence grows, potentially indicating that the entity is closer, or is about to manifest.; Besides the flashlight, how else can players directly affect the entity's ability to see or track them?
By using specific items like flares or other tools that generate light or disrupt the entity's senses, or by staying out of direct line of sight.; How does the use of items like the camera and the sound recorder influence the types of evidence that are revealed?
Using specific items correctly allows players to capture and reveal more specific types of evidence, or to uncover hidden clues and interactions with the environment.; How does the game use the 'sense' mechanic, and what effect does it have on gameplay?
The sense mechanic helps players to focus on nearby clues that are more relevant to the entity, or that might trigger a specific event.; How does the 'night vision' tool alter the player's perception, and what types of evidence become easier to identify?
Night vision enhances visibility in dark environments, potentially revealing hidden clues or spectral manifestations that would be invisible otherwise.; Does the entity's hunting behavior change based on the number of Investigators present in the game?
Yes, the entity might adapt its hunting strategies based on the team size, potentially becoming more aggressive or employing different tactics.; Can the player misinterpret clues, and if so, what happens if the player provides the wrong evidence at the ritual site?
