Phoenix Point is an upcoming strategy game from the same creators of X-COM. It features turn-based tactical combat where players will need to choose the best fighting strategy against aliens. The game is set in the far future in the year 2046, and the Earth is in the midst of an alien invasion.

Players start by commanding a lone base, the Phoenix Point. They face mixed challenges as they try to save themselves and the rest of humanity from the invasion. Aliens are difficult to battle with because of their ability to adapt to the attacks that players use against them.

Features

Mutating Alien Threat - Aliens mutate and evolve according to how they are attacked. The Pandoravirus is the source of those mutations. It incorporates into the DNA and causes mutation in living forms. What might have worked in the past will no longer work in the present, players will be facing aliens that are far beyond their imagination. The battlefield is not a safe place.

Squad-based battles - Every mission requires a squad of four or more soldiers accompanied by aerial or ground-based drones. Battles are turn-based providing a certain level of interaction. Soldiers have great endurance and willpower. That willpower is represented by will points that soldiers can spend to use special abilities. 

Geoscape is reborn - The Geoscape gives you a whole view of the world situation. You can plan how to execute your operations, construction, and missions. Players must try to contact with havens to discover scavenging sites and find the special Phoenix sites. Using the Geoscape, you can also see the locations where thick microbial mist is rolling in from the sea, which represents an increased alien activity.

Intense boss battles - Boss fights will be quite difficult because those monsters have multiple abilities to defend themselves from attacks.

Gameplay

Phoenix Point a successor to the X-COM series from the 90s, and it features a similar gameplay. The game is also inspired by Fallout in how players can target specific body parts of their opponents in combat.
