    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

If I'm standing in the light, can I immediately switch to the dark world to avoid an enemy's attack?
No, there is a brief transition period when shifting between the light and dark worlds, making it impossible to instantly dodge attacks by switching realms.
Will objects that exist in the light world have a different appearance or functionality in the dark world?
Yes, many objects will have altered forms and functions in the dark. For example, a door might be unlocked in the light but sealed in the dark, presenting a puzzle element.
Can the creatures in the dark world pursue me into the light world?
No, the creatures are bound to the dark world. Entering the light world protects you from direct attacks from them, although the darkness's influence can still affect your perception.
Are there limitations to how frequently I can switch between the light and dark worlds?
There is no cooldown to switching, but repeatedly switching can be disorienting and might require a moment to regain focus, making the timing critical.
How do I interact with the environment if the objects look different in the light and dark worlds?
You will often need to switch between the light and dark worlds to understand the nature of puzzles. You might have to interact with objects in one world to affect the other.
Does my character's health or sanity deplete differently in the light versus the dark?
The dark world often presents more immediate threats, so the sense of peril is heightened, although the core mechanics for health and sanity stay the same.
Are there any visual or auditory cues to indicate when I am close to a threat in the dark world?
Yes, the game uses a combination of visual distortions, audio cues, and environmental changes to signal the proximity of dark world entities, allowing you to prepare.
Can I use items from the light world in the dark world, and vice versa?
Yes, the items you find will often be available in both realms, but their use and effectiveness might be altered or required for progress in one or the other.
Will the puzzles in the game explicitly require me to switch between the light and dark worlds?
Absolutely. The gameplay design encourages you to master the mechanic of switching, with many puzzles depending on your ability to perceive and interact with both realms.
Can I take a weapon from the light world and use it against enemies in the dark world?
You can find and use weapons that can have an effect on the entities in the dark world, but the combat encounters are rare and often more about survival than direct confrontation.
