FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

: Can I directly control the Vikings in ASKA, or are they primarily driven by AI, and what degree of customization do I have over their behaviors and roles?
You do not directly control individual Vikings. Instead, you manage their tasks, assign them roles (like builder, gatherer, or warrior), and set overall priorities. You influence their actions through village management, resource allocation, and building placement. Their behavior adapts based on the village's needs and your strategic choices. You can customize their roles, equipment, and training, but not their moment-to-moment actions.; How does the world's procedurally generated nature impact the Vikings' survival? Does it create a new gameplay experience each time?
The procedural generation affects resource locations, enemy encounters, and the overall landscape. This introduces variability in the challenges the Vikings face, requiring adaptation to different environments and resource availabilities each playthrough. Certain areas or resources might be more abundant or scarce, forcing you to adjust your strategies for survival and expansion.; If a Viking dies, is their death permanent, and what impact does that have on the village and gameplay?
Yes, Viking deaths are permanent. The loss of a Viking has a significant impact, decreasing the village's workforce and potentially disrupting specialized tasks. It can create labor shortages, slow down construction, and weaken your defenses, compelling you to train new Vikings and re-assign tasks, forcing you to prioritize resource management and village defenses even more.; What is the primary method of resource acquisition, and how does that influence the Viking's tasks and the player's management decisions?
Resource acquisition primarily involves gathering from the environment and crafting. Vikings are assigned to gather resources, which the player then uses to craft tools, buildings, and weapons. The player's management decisions, therefore, affect the resource flow and ultimately determine the village's growth and ability to withstand threats. Choosing the right gathering locations and crafting priorities is key.; How does the seasonal cycle affect gameplay, and how does the player prepare for the changing seasons?
Seasons bring various challenges, such as resource scarcity in winter or increased enemy activity during specific times. Players must prepare by stockpiling resources, building appropriate shelters, and adapting Viking work schedules. Successfully managing through seasons is essential for long-term village survival and growth.; What role does building play in the gameplay loop, and how does it influence the Vikings' efficiency and survival?
Building is crucial. Structures provide shelter, facilitate resource processing, and offer defenses. Upgrading buildings increases Viking efficiency, allowing them to perform tasks more quickly and effectively. Strategic building placement and construction choices are vital for long-term survival and prosperity.; How does combat function, and how does the player influence the Vikings' fighting capabilities?
Combat is influenced by the Vikings' equipment, skills, and numbers. The player equips Vikings with weapons and armor, and ensures they're trained for combat. The player also makes strategic decisions regarding battle formations, building defensive structures, and setting patrol routes. The player's choices directly affect the outcome of encounters.; Is there a technology or research tree, and how does that affect the development of the village?
Yes, there is a technology system that allows players to research and unlock new buildings, crafting recipes, and Viking upgrades. This system is crucial for village development, allowing for increased efficiency, improved defenses, and access to more advanced resources and equipment.; How does the player manage the Vikings' morale and what impact does it have?
The player manages morale through various means, like providing food, shelter, and security. High morale increases efficiency and happiness, while low morale leads to decreased productivity, potential disobedience, and even Vikings leaving the village. Managing morale is essential for maintaining a functional and thriving village.; Are there any co-op or multiplayer aspects to the gameplay? If so, how does that change the village-building experience?
Yes, the game features co-op gameplay. In co-op, players share the responsibilities of village management, resource gathering, and defending against threats. Communication and coordination are essential, as players can specialize in different areas, such as building, crafting, or combat, leading to more efficient village development.
