$10K Modding Contest Announced for Frostpunk 2 by 11 Bit Studio

Developer 11 Bit Studios has unveiled an exciting new opportunity for aspiring and veteran modders alike with the launch of the official Frostpunk 2 Modding Contest. In collaboration with mod.io, the studio is inviting fans to reshape the frozen world of Frostpunk 2 with their own creative vision, offering a grand prize of $10,000 USD for the best overall entry.

The competition is open now and runs through August 22, 2025, at 11:59 PM CEST. Modders are encouraged to push boundaries and reinvent the icy landscape with fresh mechanics, visual overhauls, or narrative twists. All entries must be uploaded to mod.io and tagged with #fp2modcontest to be eligible. Steam Workshop uploads are optional but welcome.

Several prizes

There are five main prize categories in addition to the top honor. The Best Overall Mod will earn its creator the $10,000 cash prize. There will also be winners in four specialized categories, including City Mechanics, Frostland Mechanics, Graphics, and Politics. Each of them will receive a custom AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU, themed around Frostpunk 2. Three honorable mentions will also be awarded exclusive 11 Bit Studios merchandise packs.

The mods will be judged by a panel composed of developers from 11 Bit Studios, members of the mod.io team, and experienced community creators. Submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, gameplay quality, and overall enjoyment. Entrants are free to submit either newly developed or existing mods, as long as they're compatible with the current version of Frostpunk 2.

In their announcement, the developers encouraged participants to "go wild," suggesting everything from brutal survival challenges and political system overhauls to completely transforming the frozen cityscape into a desert, or even adding dinosaurs or swamps filled with ogres. The only hard limits are content guidelines: no harassment, hate speech, or explicit material will be tolerated.

Winners will be revealed on or before September 1, 2025. The contest is already sparking a buzz in online communities. While some fans question whether the six-week timeline is enough to produce high-quality mods, others are excited by the chance to experiment and get recognized by the developers. This contest presents a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact on the sequel to Frostpunk and potentially win a substantial reward.
