A new IP is being developed at Square Enix

Job listings from Square Enix’s Japan studio are currently seeking a project manager and a server system engineer with experience in multiplayer online games—strongly suggesting that this new title could be an MMORPG.

This project comes at a crucial time for Square Enix. The company’s financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, revealed a noticeable drop in net sales, mainly due to a lack of blockbuster releases. Square Enix continues to implement its three-year restructuring plan, which focuses on streamlining development operations, prioritizing quality over quantity, and shifting toward multi-platform game releases.
