Age of Empires IV: Season 2 kicks off with a huge update

Although it would seem that the latest installment in the RTS series Age of Empires was released yesterday, the game has been available for quite a while. While Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition managed to keep the fans entertained for a long while, the announcement of a new game was received with joy, and Age of Empires IV has replaced its predecessor as the most important game in the franchise. Not only does it feature better graphics, but a new batch of gameplay improvements and new mechanics that make it even more exciting. 

During the first season of Age of Empires IV, the game received a lot of additions, modifications, and free content, but a new season has just started, and Microsoft has detailed what kind of novelties players can look ahead to.

Age of Empires IV Season 2

Age of Empires IV has received a huge patch that includes many bug fixes and balance changes that will help to make multiplayer battles even more challenging. The first event of Season 2, Age of discovery, kicks off today. Any player can participate and unlock new nautical portraits and coats of arms by completing a series of challenges. 

Regarding mechanics, another exciting addition in this patch is the possibility of influencing which map you will play in Quick Match and Ranked multiplayer matches. You can downvote a series of maps before you start your map search, and the chosen map will be picked from the ones that received fewer negative votes. 

Remappable hotkeys, a new map, new camera options, and the possibility of choosing a color for your civilization round up a nice set of additions that make Age of Empires IV even more appealing to the fans.
