Battlefield 6 mocks Call of Duty in its latest trailer

The marketing campaign for Battlefield 6 has just taken a daring turn. EA and DICE released a new live-action trailer that openly pokes fun at Call of Duty, making a very loud statement about the kind of experience players can expect when the game launches on October 10, 2025.

This is all-out warfare

The video begins in familiar territory, echoing the celebrity-driven style of many Call of Duty ads. Viewers are introduced to a squad of recognizable faces, including actor Zac Efron, NBA star Jimmy Butler, country musician Morgan Wallen, and MMA fighter Paddy Pimblett. For a moment, it seems like a straightforward star-power showcase, until the unexpected happens. In a flash, the entire team is obliterated by a missile strike. The sudden destruction is both shocking and humorous, signaling that Battlefield 6 has no interest in playing by the same promotional rules. The message is clear: this franchise isn't about glitz and cameos, it's about the chaos and unpredictability of war.

Beyond the spectacle, the trailer doubles as a positioning statement. Battlefield 6 is emphasizing what sets it apart: vast environments, large-scale battles, destructible landscapes, and all-out vehicular warfare. By lampooning the competition's reliance on cinematic flair and star-driven marketing, EA is leaning into Battlefield's identity as the more authentic, large-scale alternative.

The release of this video just weeks before launch is no accident. It's designed to spark conversation, highlight the franchise's unique appeal, and carve out space in a crowded shooter market. Early reactions online show a mix of admiration and criticism: some fans applaud the bold humor, while others see it as an unnecessary jab directed towards Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Regardless of opinion, the trailer has succeeded in drawing attention.

With Battlefield 6, EA is promising scale, destruction, and immersion. This kind of warfare doesn't need celebrity endorsements to make an impact. The missile strike at the end of the trailer isn’t just an explosion; it's a statement of intent.
