Night City is busy again as Cyberpunk 2077 hits a new recent peak

Cyberpunk 2077’s Steam spike shows how far it has come
Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 is having another strong moment on Steam, and it says a lot about how far the game has come. The game recently reached a recent Steam peak of 87,025 players in the last 30 days, which is not close to its massive launch numbers, but still a very solid sign that players are returning to Night City in big numbers. More importantly, they are coming back to a game that feels much stronger than it did at launch.

That is the real story here. Cyberpunk 2077 is no longer being talked about only because of its rough release. Over the years, CD Projekt Red has turned it into a much better RPG, with major updates that changed how the game plays, how it feels, and how much fun it is to actually spend time in its world. Update 2.0 was the biggest turning point. It reworked the perk system, improved combat, changed the police system, added vehicle combat and made character builds feel more meaningful. The game suddenly had more weight behind its action, and experimenting with different playstyles became much more rewarding.

Phantom Liberty turned the comeback into something bigger

Then came Phantom Liberty, the DLC that pushed Cyberpunk 2077 into a completely different gear. Dogtown gave players a fresh area to explore, while the spy-thriller story brought a darker and more focused side of Night City. With Solomon Reed, new missions, tougher choices and some of the best writing in the game, Phantom Liberty made Cyberpunk 2077 feel like a full comeback rather than just a patched-up version of the old game.

The smaller updates after that also helped keep the game alive. Update 2.1 added the NCART metro system, new vehicles, Radioport, hangouts with romance partners and more ways to enjoy the city outside of missions. Update 2.2 brought more customization, better Photo Mode options and extra details that made the game feel more personal. Update 2.3 added new vehicles, AutoDrive, Delamain cabs and more technical improvements, giving players even more reasons to jump back in.

That is why this recent Steam peak feels important. Cyberpunk 2077 is not just getting attention because of a discount or a random hype wave. Players are returning because the game is now in a much better place. Night City feels more complete, the combat is stronger, the RPG systems make more sense, and Phantom Liberty gives the whole package a serious boost.
