Cyberpunk 2077 will have a new update

CD Projekt Red has surprised fans by announcing a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, despite previously indicating that development on the game had wrapped up. The studio revealed that Patch 2.3 will be released on June 26, 2025, generating excitement among the game's community.

The news came from Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red’s Global Community Director, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter). He teased fans by saying, "We're not done yet! Stay tuned for more info about the next Cyberpunk 2077 update coming later this month. We'll start spilling the beans closer to the release of patch 2.3." This announcement marks a shift from earlier statements suggesting the last major update had already been released.

The previous update, Patch 2.2, which dropped in December 2024, introduced a variety of new features including expanded character and vehicle customization options, as well as improvements to the game’s photo mode. At the time, it was believed to be the final substantial update for the title.

Details about what Patch 2.3 will include remain under wraps, but the community is hopeful for fresh story content, additional missions, and overall gameplay enhancements. Momot encouraged fans to be patient and let the development team work their magic, assuring them that more information will be shared closer to the release date. This announcement coincides with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the game's first appearance on a Nintendo platform and introducing it to a new audience.

Despite shifting some focus toward future projects such as the sequel codenamed “Project Orion” and the next installment in The Witcher series, CD Projekt Red's decision to continue supporting Cyberpunk 2077 highlights their commitment to the game and its player base.
