Square Enix shares new details on Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
Square Enix and Artdink, partners who jointly developed the tactical RPG Triangle Strategy, have shared new information about Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. This fresh wave of details highlighted the story, protagonists, world, spells, and abilities of the remake. Simultaneously, various Japanese channels have published extensive gameplay videos showcasing the myriad of the remake's new features. Check out V-Jump's video, containing nearly 30 minutes of never-before-seen gameplay.
Dragon Quest III was initially released 36 years ago, in 1988. Now, the legend is set to return in HD-2D graphical engine with numerous quality-of-life improvements such as autosave, the ability to speed up battles, three difficulty settings, two different camera modes, minimaps, and an NPC conversation log. On the other hand, much will remain faithful to the original, including an overworld map where towns appear as miniatures, random encounters with monsters, different classes for party members called vocations, and the option to choose between a male or female protagonist.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is scheduled to launch as a simultaneous worldwide release on November 14, 2024. It will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Microsoft Store. In addition to the features mentioned earlier, the remake will have new scenes that add greater depth to the world, directly supervised by Yuji Horii, the series creator, and some scenes will feature voice acting. Plus, the game's entire soundtrack will receive an orchestral version.
In Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, players begin their adventure in the kingdom of Aliahan, home to the great hero Ortega and you, his son and the protagonist of the story. On your sixteenth birthday, you receive an order from the king: to do what your late father could not and defeat the archfiend Baramos. Thus begins your journey to save the world.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Also Announced
When Square shared a new Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake trailer during this year's Nintendo Direct, the publisher also announced Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, scheduled for release in 2025. The first three games in the franchise comprise the Erdrick Trilogy, connected both in their stories and the worlds they inhabit.
While waiting for Dragon Quest XII, fans can enjoy Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake when it launches on November 14. JRPG enthusiasts can check our comparator for the cheapest CD keys on Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and embark on the Erdrick saga adventure.
