Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Has Surprisingly Low PC Specs
PC players will not need a cutting-edge gaming rig to experience Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy when Asobo Studio's latest adventure arrives later this month. The game's final PC system requirements have now been revealed, and they are surprisingly undemanding considering how visually impressive the game looks.
The requirements have been published through AMD ahead of launch, with both minimum and recommended configurations targeting 1080p without upscaling or frame generation. That immediately makes the specifications stand out, particularly at a time when many major releases increasingly expect relatively modern GPUs and technologies such as DLSS, FSR or frame generation.
You don't need a monster rig to run the game
The minimum requirements are particularly impressive. To play at 1080p and 30 FPS on low settings, players will need either an AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Intel Core i3-12100, alongside 16GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of VRAM.
That GTX 1060 is especially noteworthy. NVIDIA's veteran Pascal GPU was once one of the most popular graphics cards among PC gamers, but it is now approaching its tenth anniversary. Nevertheless, it remains officially supported by Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and players will apparently not need any upscaling or frame-generation technology to reach the game's minimum target.
The complete minimum configuration is:
- OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 / Intel Core i3-12100
- RAM: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
- Storage: 75GB SSD
- Target: 1080p, 30 FPS, Low, without upscaling or frame generation
Recommended requirements are equally reasonable
The recommended specification is also far from excessive. For 1080p at 60 FPS with Ultra settings, Asobo recommends an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-12400F, 16GB of RAM and either an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.
Again, there is no requirement to activate upscaling or frame generation to achieve the stated target. That makes the specification particularly encouraging for players with mid-range gaming PCs who may have been expecting Resonance's detailed environments and effects to demand considerably more hardware.
The recommended configuration is:
- OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / Intel Core i5-12400F
- RAM: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB
- Storage: 75GB SSD
- Target: 1080p, 60 FPS, Ultra, without upscaling or frame generation
A promising sign for PC optimization
The most interesting aspect of these requirements is not simply that the GPUs are relatively old. It is that Asobo appears to be targeting conventional rendering performance rather than relying on reconstruction technologies to achieve its performance targets. That does not necessarily mean every PC will deliver identical results, of course. Actual performance can vary depending on the rest of the system, drivers and individual graphics settings. Nevertheless, the official targets suggest that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy could be considerably better optimized than its impressive visuals might initially suggest.
For comparison, the previous major entry, A Plague Tale: Requiem, listed a GTX 970/Radeon RX 590 as its minimum GPU for 1080p at 30 FPS on low, while its recommended specification jumped to an RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6800 XT for 1080p at 60 FPS on Ultra. The new game therefore looks notably accessible by modern AAA standards, particularly at the recommended level.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on August 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment and it could be a welcome exception to the increasingly demanding hardware requirements of modern PC releases.
