Rumors hint at Marvel’s Venom game reveal for PS5 this year

Insomniac Games may finally be ready to reveal its long-rumored Marvel’s Venom game for the PS5, according to new reports from a reliable industry insider. Though the studio has kept quiet about the spin-off’s existence, fresh rumors suggest an official announcement could come as soon as this September’s rumored PlayStation State of Play event—or, if not, at Geoff Keighley’s high-profile Game Awards in December.

Ever since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swung onto PS5 last year, fans have been eager to see more of Venom, who was voiced in the game by the late Tony Todd. While Insomniac has never officially confirmed a Venom spin-off, a massive ransomware leak in late 2023 hinted that the studio was working on multiple Marvel projects—including a dedicated Venom title, Spider-Man 3, and even an X-Men game.

Venom Spin-Off Could Be Insomniac’s Next Big Marvel Release on PS5

Although plans may have shifted after that devastating leak, there’s reason to believe the Venom game still exists. Insider Detective Seeds, known for accurate predictions in the past, claims the game is still on track and may finally be ready for a public reveal. However, fans remain cautious after learning that other leaked projects, such as additional DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, were ultimately scrapped or altered.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Tony Todd once teased that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 used only about 10% of his recorded lines, and hinted that he’d completed “two major projects.” Many now believe the second project could indeed be a standalone Venom game, especially given the character’s popularity and potential for a darker, more intense story.
