Star Wars Outlaws is comming to Switch 2

​Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025, marking its debut on a Nintendo platform nearly a year after its initial release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in August 2024. Along with the Nintendo Switch 2 version, Star Wars Outlaws's new DLC: "A Pirate’s Fortune" has also been confirmed to be released on May 15, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC first.

Developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, Star Wars Outlaws is the first open-world game in the Star Wars universe. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, players assume the role of Kay Vess, a cunning scoundrel, and her companion Nix as they undertake one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. 

Player opinions have been more divided; the Metacritic User Score stands at 5.4 out of 10, based on over 2,900 ratings. While some players appreciate the game's atmosphere and narrative, others have criticized its gameplay mechanics and technical issues.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Wars Outlaws is anticipated to leverage the console's upgraded hardware, including a 7.9-inch 1080p HDR display and enhanced Joy-Con controllers. While specific performance details have not been disclosed, the game's open-world design and dynamic combat are expected to benefit from the Switch 2's capabilities. 

Alongside the announcement of the Switch 2 port on Friday, Ubisoft released a demo of the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Players can now try out a Tatooine-based chunk of Star Wars Outlaws that includes dogfighting in orbit above the planet, battles with factions such as the Hutt Cartel and Tusken Raiders, a visit to Mos Eisley, and the card game Kessel Sabacc — although it’s worth noting that the demo is limited to three hours of play, and progress in it will not carry over to the full game.
