World of Warcraft: Forever – Everything You Need to Know

WoW Forever Could Be the Classic+ Fans Have Wanted
Industry

World of Warcraft: Forever aims to offer fans a fresh way to experience Azeroth by combining the foundations of Vanilla WoW with original content designed to evolve indefinitely. Its announcement also comes as little surprise following Blizzard’s recent actions against several private Classic+ servers, which had already fueled speculation about the company’s own plans for the Classic experience. Rather than simply recreating the original game or following the traditional expansion path of The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, World of Warcraft: Forever takes Azeroth in an alternate direction while keeping the level cap firmly at 60.

A New Azeroth Beyond the Classic Expansion Path

The experience expands the familiar world with new regions, quests, dungeons, and raids. Players can explore locations such as Mount Hyjal alongside completely new areas, while more than 1,000 quests are planned to give leveling and exploration greater depth. Blizzard is also introducing the Skyborne Elves, a new playable race capable of joining either the Alliance or Horde, alongside additional race-and-class combinations for existing races.

Combat and character progression retain the recognizable Classic identity while receiving significant changes. The three-branch talent system remains, but Blizzard is reworking talents to encourage more viable builds and reduce the number of obvious or ineffective choices. Dungeon progression is also being adjusted to encourage exploration and quest completion instead of endless dungeon grinding.

Beyond adding new areas and adventures, World of Warcraft: Forever is introducing systems designed to make the journey through Azeroth feel more meaningful. One of the most notable additions is the Camping system, which expands the familiar Cooking Fire into a functional campsite. Players can establish camps where they can rest, repair equipment, access vendors and profession workspaces, and receive temporary buffs by spending time around the campfire. Other players can contribute crafted objects to these camps, with different professions providing their own utilities and bonuses.

Blizzard is also giving professions a much larger role, with more than 600 new recipes, improved food that can provide stat bonuses and experience benefits, and advanced blueprints obtained from dungeon bosses. Together, these systems encourage players to slow down, interact with others, and make professions useful throughout the leveling journey rather than treating them as an afterthought.

Can Forever Keep Vanilla’s Spirit While Expanding Azeroth?

Character progression also expands without abandoning Classic WoW's slower, tactical philosophy. The new Legacy System rewards players for completing challenges such as leveling different classes or reaching profession milestones. Earned Legacy Points are shared across the account, allowing individual characters to spend them through three initial trees: Adventure, Professions, and Resourcefulness.

These bonuses can improve rested experience, gathering efficiency, and other aspects of progression, while the system's cosmetic rewards provide long-term goals without creating a direct competitive advantage. At the same time, Blizzard is reworking talents, racial abilities, itemization, and class combinations to create more viable builds while keeping classes distinct.

New combinations such as Gnome Priests, Orc Mages, Dwarf Shamans, Troll Warlocks, Human Hunters, and Undead Paladins further expand character options. Combined with improved dungeon rewards, new item stats, stronger world drops, and more specialized gear, these changes show that World of Warcraft: Forever aims for more than a simple Vanilla WoW recreation; it's building a long-term Classic+ experience around the level-60 journey.
