From the creators of the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Armoured Core, here comes the action-filled adventure game where players take revenge to the next level, restore lost honor, and kill ingeniously.
In Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, you are a one-armed wolf, a fallen ninja warrior who's been rescued from the brink of death. The dangerous clan of Ashina who wants to kill your young lord will go to great lengths to kill you, but as a loyal servant and warrior, you are bound to protect the young lord of an ancient bloodline. Nothing will stop you from your finishing your quest to get back your honor and keep your word of putting the young lord’s life ahead of yours.
The game explores Japan’s Sengoku period in the late 1500s. This period is filled with brutality and conflict, and as you come face to face with your enemies, you get to unleash your deadly weapons and epic ninja skills in bloody battles. The gameplay of Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is similar to the one in other FromSoftware games. It has the same bloody plot, precise combat system, and it also lets you explore across a fantastical depiction of Japan. The game offers a minimal tutorial as it only teaches you how to wield a sword and you’re pretty much left on your own after that. The good thing is that you are equipped with a katana, a makeshift arm, and an array of tools for combat. The makeshift arm can be replaced and customized with secondary weapons, and when it's used correctly, it can leave enemies dead on the ground.
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is a game that gives you a first-hand experience of being a ninja with a sacred vow of saving a life to live by.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does the "Posture" system affect combat encounters in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and what strategies are most effective for breaking an enemy's Posture?
Posture represents an enemy's defensive stability. Successfully deflecting attacks, landing hits, and using specific combat arts increase Posture damage. When an enemy's Posture is broken, they are vulnerable to a "Deathblow," allowing for an instant kill. The most effective strategies include deflecting attacks to build Posture damage quickly, utilizing prosthetic tools like the "Shinobi Firecracker" to stun enemies, and timing attacks to interrupt their posture recovery.
Explain the function of the "Mikiri Counter" and in what situations is it most effectively used?
The Mikiri Counter is a crucial technique for punishing "Perilous Attacks" marked by a red kanji symbol. When an enemy performs a thrust attack, the player can press the dodge button at the right moment to step on the enemy's weapon and deal significant Posture damage. It's most effective against thrust attacks from heavily armored opponents and mini-bosses, providing a vital opportunity to break their posture and open them up for a Deathblow.
How does the "Resurrection" mechanic work, and what are its limitations and strategic applications?
Resurrection allows the player to revive instantly after being defeated, once per rest at an Idol. This is limited by the "Resurrection Charge" mechanic which is replenished through combat, by performing Deathblows, and sometimes by luck. This allows for a second chance in challenging encounters, allowing for strategic use of a second life to learn attack patterns, get a crucial hit in, or finish off a nearly defeated opponent.
Describe the role of "Prosthetic Tools" in combat and how they enhance the core gameplay loop.
Prosthetic Tools are unique gadgets attached to the Shinobi's prosthetic arm. They provide a wide range of tactical options, from stunning enemies with the "Shinobi Firecracker" to dealing area-of-effect damage with the "Flame Vent." Each tool consumes "Spirit Emblems," and their usage provides combat diversity, allow players to exploit enemy weaknesses, and create openings for attacks or Posture damage.
What is the significance of "Dragonrot," and how does it affect the gameplay experience?
Dragonrot is a disease that can spread to NPCs upon the player's repeated deaths. It affects certain quest lines and can prevent progress until cured using "Recovery Charms." Dragonrot adds a unique consequence to failure, forcing players to consider the impact of their deaths on the game world and potentially requiring resource management to mitigate its effects.
How does "Deflection" differ from blocking in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and why is it so important?
Deflection is the act of perfectly timing a parry to an enemy attack, rather than just blocking, which reduces Posture damage instead of preventing it altogether. Perfect deflections not only prevent damage to the player but also inflict Posture damage on the attacker. Mastery of deflections is essential to breaking enemy Posture and surviving encounters, and is more powerful than blocking.
Explain the concept of "Deathblows" and how they contribute to Sekiro's unique combat flow.
Deathblows are finishing moves executed when an enemy's Posture is broken or when they have been weakened. They instantly defeat an enemy, and is the primary way to defeat mini-bosses and bosses. Deathblows are essential to progressing through areas, and give the game a fast-paced and engaging gameplay loop by allowing the player to quickly remove powerful enemies.
How does stealth play a role in Sekiro's gameplay, and what are the key mechanics involved?
Stealth is a vital element, allowing players to bypass enemies, set up advantageous attacks, and perform "Deathblows" on unaware foes. The key mechanics include crouching to move silently, using cover to hide from enemies, and utilizing the grappling hook for vertical mobility to access hidden areas and stealth opportunities. Mastering stealth is crucial for navigating hostile environments efficiently and strategically.
What are "Combat Arts," and how do they influence the player's combat options?
Combat Arts are special techniques that can be learned and equipped to add additional offensive options to the player's moveset. These consume "Spirit Emblems" and range from powerful strikes to area-of-effect attacks. Combat Arts offer a variety of ways to deal damage, break Posture, and exploit enemy weaknesses, enhancing the combat depth and player customization.
How does the grappling hook contribute to Sekiro's exploration and combat?
The grappling hook is a versatile tool that enables vertical movement, allowing players to reach elevated areas, traverse environments quickly, and reposition during combat. It also allows for stealthy approaches and can be used to pull enemies closer for a Deathblow. The grappling hook is deeply integrated into the level design, making exploration dynamic and providing additional combat options.
