The next epic chapter in the story of Sanctuary arrives with Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, the highly anticipated expansion to Blizzard Entertainment's legendary action RPG. This expansion introduces a thrilling new storyline, fresh challenges, and powerful gameplay enhancements that push your demon‑slaying adventure to new heights.

In this expansion, the Prime Evil Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, rises once more, threatening to engulf Sanctuary in darkness. Journey through the untamed lands of Skovos, a mysterious region steeped in ancient lore, from volcanic shores to dense forests and flooded tombs. Encounter familiar allies and new faces as you face formidable enemies in a race to prevent Mephisto’s destructive influence from spreading.

Lord of Hatred adds two new playable classes, giving you more ways to customize your combat experience. The Paladin, a holy warrior wielding hammer and shield, offers a mix of divine power and classic Diablo combat. A second, secret class will be revealed at launch, promising new tactical options and strategies for veteran players. These additions bring fresh dynamics to every encounter, ensuring that no two adventures are ever the same.

The expansion also significantly enlarges the game world. Skovos introduces new dungeons, towns, and enemy types, while every class benefits from expanded skill trees, new abilities, and higher level caps. Advanced loot management, including a Loot Filter system, revamped crafting options, and the iconic Horadric Cube, enhance character progression. The addition of the Talisman system adds another layer of depth to gear customization and combat strategy.

Endgame content has been reimagined to keep even seasoned players engaged. Challenge yourself with Echoing Hatred, a relentless gauntlet of demonic foes, or explore new ways to progress with customizable War Plans. Players can also enjoy more immersive world activities, from perilous quests to unexpected mini-adventures across Sanctuary.

All editions of Lord of Hatred include the full Vessel of Hatred expansion, offering a complete experience that bridges the base game with this new chapter. Pre‑purchase rewards include extra character slots, stash tabs, mounts, pets, and exclusive cosmetic items, depending on the edition chosen.

The best thing that has happened to Diablo 4 since its launch, Blizzard did great with this update. Great expansion (although short), with new classes, areas and mechanics.

On Steam, Lord of Hatred has received mixed reviews (65-70% positive). Players like the new classes, the improved gameplay and the more memorable campaign. On the other hand, many criticize the launch bugs, technical issues and still-perfect endgame. All in all, it's a solid expansion, but one that still divides the community. But already much better than Vessel of Hatred.

Great story and both the warlock and paladin classes are a lot of fun. The leveling up and additional customization refresh from the base game.

I like the addition of new modes and mechanics but not the prices of these dlcs as they tend to be quite abusive.

This DLC is pretty average. On the one hand, the atmosphere is as good as ever, dark and immersive, with some really cool areas to explore and good art direction. But behind that, I find it hard to ignore the lack of new gameplay. The additions are nice without being revolutionary, and after a few hours, I had a feeling of déjà-vu. What's even more disappointing is the price. Honestly, I find it too high for the content on offer. I'd have expected more depth or real new mechanics. It's still fun to play if you're a fan, but it's hard to say it's really worth the price.

The upgrades for all classes make even my old character feel new. The new class, the Warlock, is another great thing about this DLC: I think it's great and a lot of fun to play.

The storyline is clearly more successful in Lord of Hatred than in Vessel of Hatred, with a story centered on Mephisto and Neyrelle that's darker and better-paced, even if a few long stretches remain. The new region, Skovos, brings a real sense of renewal with its mystical atmosphere and varied landscapes, making exploration more enjoyable and less monotonous than in the base game. Finally, new classes such as the Paladin and the Demonist are a real success, offering different play styles and encouraging experimentation with new builds. All in all, these additions clearly enhance the immersion and enjoyment of the game.

I was really looking forward to Lord of Heatred and it's a real turning point for the game, both in terms of gameplay and possibilities and in terms of storytelling. Builds are finally going to change a bit with the total reworking of the skill tree, because we've been going in circles for a few seasons now.
