Escape a dystopia that is bent on grinding you to dust in White Shadows, a haunting cinematic puzzle-platformer in the style of Limbo and Little Nightmares. Experience the world through the eyes of Ravengirl, a low-born citizen determined to leave her oppressive, wolf-controlled city—or die trying.

As Ravengirl, you must travel through the city’s depths and its towering skyscrapers in pursuit of your freedom. The city itself is a wonder to behold: a black and white hellscape of vast towers, joined together by miles of pipes, platforms, and wires, few of which can hold your weight. You must sprint across bridges, jump over gaps, climb over obstacles, and solve various puzzles to reach the end of your journey.

The city’s atmosphere feels like a cross between 1930’s noir film, vintage science-fiction, and an Orwellian nightmare. Everyone you look, you’ll see the lies of the ruling class splashed across walls, placed there to keep the rest of the citizenry in their place. Despite having no dialogue or narration, the story is filled with social commentary, which you will slowly unravel as the plot unfolds across five chapters.

Will you escape the city, or will the wolves of White Shadows swallow you whole?

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the environment to my advantage beyond just hiding in shadows? For example, can I manipulate objects to distract or misdirect the patrols?
Yes. The environment is interactive. While shadows are crucial, you can use objects to create noise, block paths, or provide alternative routes to evade detection. Experimentation with the environment is a core gameplay mechanic.
How does the 'Sun' mechanic impact gameplay beyond just visual obstruction? Does it influence enemy behavior or add other gameplay layers?
The sun is far more than just a visual hazard. It affects enemy sightlines and patrol patterns. The positioning of the sun during the game progression can drastically change enemy behavior and your options, forcing adaptive strategies.
Are there any consequences for being caught that go beyond immediate death or restarting a section? Does the game track or punish repeat failures?
While stealth is paramount, being caught may not always result in immediate failure. The game tracks how you're playing and failure could be tied to more difficult future encounters. The game does not explicitly punish, but it subtly adjusts the difficulty based on your success or failures.
Beyond the basic movement and crouching, are there any advanced movement techniques I can use to traverse the environment, like wall-running or ledge-grabbing?
The game focuses on a more grounded movement style. Expect core stealth mechanics, where the focus is not on parkour, but on environmental awareness, timing, and using the shadows to conceal movement.
How does the game balance the player's limited vision with the need to observe enemy patrols and the environment? Are there tools or mechanics to help with this?
The limited visibility is central to the game. You'll need to use sound, environmental cues, and patrol patterns to navigate effectively. There are no tools to extend your vision but instead rely on your wits and strategic use of your limited sight.
How is the story delivered within the game, considering its focus on visual storytelling and atmosphere? Is there dialogue or other overt narrative elements?
The narrative is primarily delivered through environmental storytelling, visual cues, and the atmosphere. Dialogue is minimal. The world and your interactions within it reveal the story.
Does the game offer any form of enemy AI variation or emergent behavior? Will enemies react differently based on how I approach them?
Enemies have distinct patrol patterns and reactions based on player actions. How you interact, whether seen or unseen, influences enemy behavior, introducing a degree of emergent gameplay.
Are there any collectibles or hidden areas that encourage exploration and reward players for straying from the main path?
Exploration is indirectly encouraged. The environment holds secrets, offering insight into the world and enhancing your understanding. While the game may not feature traditional collectibles, the environment itself provides hidden elements.
How does the game's audio design contribute to the stealth gameplay? Is sound a critical element for both the player and the enemies?
Sound is a crucial element. The environment and enemy interactions are designed to heighten your sense of being. Both you and the enemies will rely on environmental sound to track each other's presence.
Does the game offer any options for customizing the gameplay experience, such as difficulty settings or accessibility options that influence core stealth mechanics?
The game is designed to be experienced as intended, focusing on the core stealth mechanics. There is limited customization offered in difficulty or gameplay. The focus is to make the experience streamlined.
