Bayonetta 3 is releasing this year

The return of the witch is close. Nearly eight years after the release of Bayonetta 2, launched in September 2014, and the announcement of the third game at The Game Awards in 2017, Bayonetta 3 finally received a new trailer with a release date. 

The game is being developed by PlatinumGames and the video showed off much of the hack 'n slash action that the title is known for and also introduced a new character, Viola, a witch in training. She possesses a sword and her companion Cheshire, a demonic feline. The title will also feature the Bounty of Bayonettas, with clan fights taking place in settings ranging from the streets of Tokyo to the mountains of China.

Another news is that the title will have a Trinity Masquerade edition, which will come with a 200-page full-color art book, 3 cases to store the physical media of the series games, and more items that will be revealed soon.

The official description of the game reads as follows:

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading manmade bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta's crosshairs. Get ready for a devilishly good time.

Bayonetta 1 Re-release

Nintendo took the opportunity to also mention that the original Bayonetta will be re-released for Switch in a standalone physical version on September 30, 2022. A limited number of copies will be made available.

The first game in the Bayonetta series was released in October 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC. The sequel, released in 2014, was released for Wii U. Bayonetta 3 will continue the tradition of Nintendo's console releases and will arrive exclusively on Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022.
