Borderlands 2 is now completely free to claim, but only for a limited time

The fourth game in the main Borderlands series will be launching in just a few months, providing a great chance for newcomers to discover what all the hype is about. Today, developer Gearbox kicked off a giveaway for Borderlands 2, allowing all PC players to claim the base game for free and experience its campaign. The promotion is available on Steam, making it easily accessible for most players. 

Released in 2012, this action RPG invites players to explore the chaotic planet of Pandora in a comical adventure centered around a rebel faction confronting the beloved villain, Handsome Jack. Players will take on the role of Vault Hunters in search of a significant treasure on the planet, choosing from characters like Axton (Commando), Maya (Siren), Zer0 (Assassin), and Salvador (Gunzerker) in the base game. 

Each Vault Hunter has distinct skill trees and ultimate abilities, allowing players to customize their play styles as they advance through the campaign. Nevertheless, the most crucial element of the Borderlands series is the guns. The title's looter shooter mechanics present innumerable weapon and gear variations, each featuring unique stats and effects that differ with rarity. 

Borderlands 2 allows up to four players to cooperate, offering drop-in, drop-out multiplayer functionality. Your character's gear and progression will carry over to any games you join as well. 

The Steam giveaway for Borderlands 2 is currently active. It is scheduled to conclude on June 8 at 10 am PT.
