Dead Island 2 is free to claim on the Epic Games Store this week

The Epic Games Store announced its mystery giveaway event today, revealing that copies of Dead Island 2 and Happy Game are up for grabs. This marks the first selection of "Mystery Games" to be offered for free on the Epic Games Store this month. Three additional mystery games will be available on the platform next week. PC gamers can claim this dual giveaway over the course of the next seven days, as usual.

Set 15 years after the original Dead Island, the zombie-themed action RPG, Dead Island 2, immerses players in a Los Angeles that has succumbed to the undead. The developer Dambuster Studios boasts that the game's dismemberment mechanics are the most advanced ever created, enabling players to slice, smash, and ignite zombies in countless ways.

Cooperative gameplay is also included, allowing up to three players to team up for both the campaign and horde mode. If you're seeking a game to either tackle alone or enjoy in a co-op setting, Dead Island 2 is definitely worth exploring. With it being free, there's no reason for gamers to pass up the opportunity to play it. The game performs well on PC and is highly entertaining.

Next, another offering from Amanita Design has made its way to the Epic Games Store as a complimentary title. Happy Game, another point-and-click adventure from the creators of Botanicula and Chuchel, brings a horror twist – a "deeply disturbing" puzzle experience in which a young boy descends into bizarre nightmares. On Steam, feedback has been "very positive" from the 2,576 players who left reviews.

The giveaways for Dead Island 2 and Happy Game on the Epic Games Store are set to continue until May 22. On that same date, Epic intends to introduce three more games as part of its ongoing mystery giveaway initiative.
