All confirmed Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Every new Mega Evolution confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is shaping up to be a landmark release for the series, putting Mega Evolution back into the spotlight with both returning classics and brand-new designs. Set in Kalos — the region where Mega Evolution was first introduced — it feels like the perfect setting to expand this fan-favorite mechanic. The Pokémon Company has already confirmed several exciting new additions.

A New Era of Mega Pokémon

The first new Mega Pokémon unveiled was Mega Dragonite, a long-requested evolution for one of Kanto’s most beloved pseudo-legendaries. Borrowing design elements from Dragonair, Mega Dragonite features elegant head wings and a jewel on its tail. Despite its intimidating size, its official description emphasizes Dragonite’s gentle heart, which only grows stronger when it Mega Evolves.

Soon after, Mega Victreebel was revealed in a teaser with a horror-like atmosphere. This Grass/Poison-type now has a rounder, heavier body brimming with acid, while its trademark vines wrap tightly around its throat. Its increased bulk makes it a threatening opponent, capable of bouncing across the battlefield before unleashing devastating Sludge Bomb attacks.

Meanwhile, Mega Hawlucha brings a flashy wrestling flair to the lineup. With golden highlights on its costume-like wings and mask, this Fighting/Flying-type combines style with newfound durability. Its official description notes that Mega Evolution boosts its endurance, allowing it to taunt opponents before striking with its signature move, Flying Press.

Alongside these fresh designs, several familiar Mega Evolutions are returning, including Mega Charizard X, Mega Absol, and Mega Kangaskhan. However, it remains uncertain whether every past Mega form will make the cut.

Adding to the excitement, a widely circulated leak suggests as many as 27 new Mega Evolutions could be introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. These span multiple generations, from Mega Feraligatr and Mega Skarmory to Mega Greninja, and even a rumored Mega Zygarde. While leaks should always be taken with caution, the confirmed announcements so far do line up with this list — giving fans plenty to speculate about until launch day.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for release on October 16, 2025, for both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Switch 2. With Mega Evolution at the heart of its story and gameplay, this title is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Pokémon games in years.
