Hogwarts Legacy is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and new details about the enhanced port are emerging—alongside features fans have been requesting since launch. As one of 2023’s best-selling titles, with over 2 million copies sold in its first week, its success is set to grow even further with the Switch 2 release.
The original Nintendo Switch struggled with ports of large open-world titles, often sacrificing graphics and performance. Hogwarts Legacy was no exception, with its visuals and framerate heavily downgraded on the current-gen Switch. However, thanks to the significantly improved specs of the Switch 2, fans can look forward to a much better experience when the game launches on June 5.
A recent Japanese press release from 4Gamer revealed more technical details about the Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy. The upgraded port will include enhanced visuals with DLSS support, improved lighting and shadows, and anti-aliasing. The game will run at up to 1440p resolution in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode, with HDR supported in both.
One of the most exciting improvements is the removal of loading screens. Players will be able to explore the open world seamlessly and enjoy higher framerates, all thanks to the Switch 2’s upgraded hardware. Additionally, the game will support mouse-like controls via the Joy-Con 2 controller—a new and welcome feature for many.
Although a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is already in development, its planned DLC was reportedly canceled. Still, given the original game's overwhelming success, a sequel remains highly likely. While no official announcements have been made, fans are hopeful that news will arrive by the end of 2025.
