The horror fishing game Dredge is available for free on the Epic Games Store today

Today marks the sixth day of the Epic Games Store's holiday daily giveaways, having replaced yesterday's Dark and Darker DLC. The free offer for Dredge is now active as of December 24, lasting for 24 hours.

Dredge uniquely blends fishing gameplay with elements of eldritch horror. During the day, players navigate a small motorized boat while engaging in a timing mini-game to catch fish. As night falls, however, players must contend with sea monsters and hallucinations that can damage their vessel, although the rewards for continuing to fish during this time are greater.

Inventory management is crucial, as both gear and caught treasures occupy the same space, with upgrades available to enhance boat performance and capacity. The storyline progresses over time, presenting players with various quests as they explore islands.

Created by Black Salt Games, this indie title surged in popularity in 2023, achieving one million sales before the year concluded and receiving nominations for numerous awards. Following its success, Black Salt Games introduced two expansions for Dredge, named The Iron Rig and The Pale Reach. While these DLCs are not included in this Epic Store promotion, players who claim Dredge for free can choose to purchase these expansions later if they wish.
