A PlayStation Store gift card contains a code that you can redeem to add the specified amount of virtual currency to your PlayStation Network account. You can use this currency to purchase a variety of items from PlayStation Store, including the widest selection of video games for Sony consoles, add-ons and subscriptions for your favorite PlayStation games, and even movies.

Once you've redeemed the code, the specified amount of virtual currency is immediately transferred to the PSN account you're logged into, and can be used to buy whatever you want.
