Techland moves up Dying Light: The Beast launch following huge demand

Techland has announced that Dying Light: The Beast will now be released one day earlier than planned, hitting store shelves on September 18, 2025. The move comes as a thank-you to fans after the game surpassed one million pre-orders, an impressive milestone that underscores the franchise’s enduring popularity.

Originally intended as downloadable content for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Dying Light: The Beast evolved into a full standalone title. The developers used the extra time from its initial delay to polish gameplay, fine-tune the user interface, improve animations and physics, and enhance the overall story experience. In my opinion, it's a smart move to keep the marketing momentum going. It also shows confidence in the product, although getting ahead of schedule can create pressure to get the game polished from day one. It also shows Techland's confidence and gratitude to the fans. It's positive that it's coming early, but also a challenge: the game will need to be perfectly optimized from day one to not disappoint. It can be a great success if it delivers what it promised. Something that, for me, it has done perfectly.

For me, it's worth every euro spent. More if you see things in this news that I had no idea about. Just for the policy that has led Techland with this game, for his generosity to the players of the previous installment, this game deserves the Goty. This is one of those games that you have to play them calmly. It is very enjoyable just like Dying Light. Personally I miss being able to repair weapons without having to go to the inventory every time it breaks and being able to repair the weapon at the time. Otherwise I'm happy, it's very optimized, it looks amazing and I'm loving it, the story I've been playing for quite a while because I'm exploring the map and doing side quests.

It's rare to see a video game company bringing forward the release of their game and giving it away for free to those who had the previous one. I wish other companies would follow suit.

I don't know the reason why they have brought the game forward but, it may be because they had a date in mind and on that date the king (GTA VI) was going to be released. I think that all companies are afraid of that date and more knowing that the one that is now may not be the final date. So they must have thought that, being the game pretty good in all aspects, they decided to release it as soon as possible to avoid that date and if they have something to fix, release patches but, as I said, the game is very good. It's just a theory of bringing the date forward. We're seeing a lot of very good games coming out these last few months that could have been diluted if GTA had come out in September, as they had announced.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get the Ultimate Edition upgrade for DL2 in time, as this game would have been free with it. However, I'm playing it eventually. Castor Woods, the new map, looks really good and the nights should be spooky, with a mix of forest, factory and urban areas. The combat looks better than ever and the new bosses look really fun to fight, with their different attacks and mechanics.

The announcement of an early release shows that Techland has confidence in its game and its community. Rewarding past players with free access (if you have the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2) and rewards for the millions of pre-orders is appreciable. The return of Kyle Crane after 13 years, in a wilder, more brutal world, is exactly what was needed to relaunch the franchise. I loved Dying Light's edgy gameplay, and here, with the new map, more forest atmosphere and new abilities, it offers a very different experience without betraying the game's DNA. It's not necessarily a problem in itself that the game is shorter. It's better to have a shorter but intense game than one that's too long and empty.

If you know the Dying Light saga, in a way you will feel at home, because all its hallmarks are still present here, the control is very similar (yes, the jump is still associated with L1/LB on the controller), but with certain improvements in all sections. The hard core of the game is still that of an action adventure and survival in an open world populated by zombies.

Techland's expansion turned standalone sequel ends up being the most enjoyable Dying Light yet. Techland has managed to give the closure that Kyle Crane's story needed. If you were a fan of the first Dying Light and were disappointed by the RPG drift of the second installment, The Beast is going to make you very happy. It's the pure survival horror we missed, with the brutality and nighttime tension that made the saga great. It's perfect for both veterans and new players who want to get to know the character.

Excellent sequel to a saga now quite well known in its field, you can play it either alone or in company however I recommend you wait until it drops a bit in price
