Final Fantasy XVI could have an expansion
After the huge success of the latest installment in the iconic RPG series, which has sold over three million copies in barely a week after release, Square Enix has changed its mind about expanding Final Fantasy XVI. The series has always been a solid bet for the Japanese company, which will continue exploiting its gold mine in the future. It recently announced that we will see more remasters of classic titles in the series, like Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, which was received with joy by the fans.
A change of path
Final Fantasy XVI will be following a similar path, even though the original idea of the developer was to release a standalone game that you could enjoy without the need for any expansions. Producer Naoki Yoshida has acknowledged the success of the game and the community's requests for more content in a recent interview with GamerBraves, where he also stated that they are exploring options to expand the game, even though they initially denied that possibility.
“As you know, going into Final Fantasy 16, the one thing we wanted was to create a full complete story, something that you can enjoy beginning to end 100% without any DLC, and I think we were able to do that. But now we understand we’re getting feedback from players that have played the game and a lot of players want to see more, and we know that and understand that. For us, we’re taking that and then thinking about our options moving forward so hopefully in the near future we can have something that we can give to you all.”
We don't know yet if Square Enix will opt for a small DLC or a big expansion to expand the game, and it's also unclear if they will add new features to Final Fantasy XVI, which is a game that already delivers a solid and intense experience that has captivates millions of fans despite the notable differences with its predecessors. But it seems granted that the developer will expand the story of the game, which should be more than enough for most fans.
In any case, when Square Enix decides to release additional content for the game you will always find it at the best price with our comparator alongside the best deals to get a Final Fantasy XVI PS5 key.
