New World is finally opening server transfers

After the massive success of New World at launch, players were finding problems to play on their servers of choice because of increasingly long queues. Amazon Games rapidly addressed this issue by opening a good number of new servers and promising that it would be possible to move to a different server in the future too. It has taken them a few weeks, but it seems that they are finally ready to implement this feature in the game. A recent announcement pointed at today's patch. 

"When all worlds are back online from downtime, our plan is to monitor the framework we created without turning transfers on immediately. Once we have confirmed that the framework holds up at scale, we will turn on character server transfers in the Utopia world first, in the AP Southeast region. We will closely monitor transfers in this world, and if anything out of the ordinary occurs our team will need to make manual interventions. If all goes well, we will turn it on for the rest of the AP Southeast region, and continue monitoring. If after 8 hours our team hasn't discovered any issues, we will fully deploy character server transfers to the other regions."

Queues have disappeared from the game in most servers, and waiting times do not seem to be a problem anymore as the population has spread. Even though the opening of server transfers will impact the population map across the servers, it's unlikely that it will cause problems since you are only allowed to move to New World servers that are not full already.

The transfer process is quite simple. A single-use special token will be available for free in the cash shop, and you can use it to move to a server that meets the requirements. You must leave your guild, remove all orders from the auction house, and move to a safe spot to request the transfer. The service will become a paid feature in the future so make sure of putting the free token to good use. As a little bonus for those players that have been eagerly waiting for this to be implemented, the "waiting" emote is available for free in the cash shop, and the "Stoic" title has been granted to all New World players.
