Resident Evil Village is the GOTY in Golden Joystick Awards

As the year ends, so begins the big awards in the gaming world. Prior to what's known as the Oscar of the gaming, the Game Awards, we had the Golden Joystick Awards. To commemorate 50 years of gaming, the awards ceremony included two extra special categories: Best Gaming Hardware of All Time and Ultimate Game of All Time.

The Game of the Year, a category that usually hogs the headlines, has been captured by Lady Dimitrescu in the same way that Ethan has been. This means that Resident Evil Village took to home the golden GOTY Joystick. The survival horror game is also a nominee for Game of the Year at the Game Awards. Will the game double-down and take the award twice? 

The eighth Resident Evil also won two more awards for Best Audio and PlayStation Game of the Year. Meanwhile, its producer Capcom also celebrated the Studio of the Year award.

How do the Game Awards differ from the Golden Joystick Award?

The Game Awards is considered the Oscars of gaming, and therefore the event of most significant magnitude in this cosmos of gamer awards. However, other events are just as relevant, such as the Critic Choice Awards and the Golden Joystick Awards. The most significant difference between Game Awards and the Golden Joystick is that the voting in the latter is done entirely by the public. In contrast, in The Game Awards, press vehicles worldwide act as jury, and the public participation is teeny-tiny.
