No Man’s Sky’s Latest Update Brings Mega-Ships and Big Engine Upgrade

Voyagers Update: Mega-Ships & Engine Overhaul in No Man’s Sky

Hello Games keeps adding meaningful content and has once again raised the bar for No Man’s Sky with the launch of its Voyagers update, marking the game’s 6.0 milestone. Released on August 27, 2025, this massive expansion puts starship design and interstellar exploration front and center, adding features so ambitious that large parts of the game's engine had to be reworked to support them.

The main addition in the update are Corvette-class ships, colossal vessels that serve as both starships and fully functional mobile bases. These massive spacecraft can be built from scratch and customized with an array of interior rooms, including med-bays, war rooms, teleportation hubs, mission radars, and crew quarters. Players can step out of the pilot's seat and explore their ship's interior while in flight, even venturing outside for zero-gravity spacewalks or daring skydives between vessels.

The new Corvette system also emphasizes multiplayer gameplay. Friends can join in to help decorate, expand, and manage these ships, turning them into truly collaborative creations. The ability to co-build a starship while it soars through space adds a level of immersion and teamwork rarely seen in space exploration games.

Creating this feature was no small feat. Hello Games founder Sean Murray revealed that making walkable, fully customizable ships travel seamlessly between planets and across multiplayer servers required a major overhaul of No Man’s Sky’s technical foundations. The result is a dynamic experience that blurs the line between a spaceship and a player-built settlement, taking one of the game's most essential elements, the starship, and making it a living, evolving home.

For those eager to dive in, the update also introduces a Corvette Expedition. This guided mission helps players quickly unlock the new building modules and access Corvette Workshops located in Space Stations, streamlining the process of assembling these massive starships.

The Voyagers update is arriving just in time for No Man’s Sky’s ninth anniversary. To celebrate, Hello Games has launched a Twitch Drops event running from August 28 to September 1, where viewers can earn exclusive in-game rewards. The studio is also releasing new merchandise, including a plush toy line, a vinyl soundtrack, and fashion collaborations, highlighting the game’s enduring popularity.

Interestingly, the technology developed for Voyagers will also play a role in Hello Games' upcoming fantasy sandbox project, Light No Fire. That game promises an Earth-sized planet with realistic oceans that require large, crewed ships to traverse, a natural extension of the tech first introduced with Corvette-class starships.

Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with players celebrating the update as one of the most groundbreaking in the game’s history. Many longtime fans are calling Voyagers a "dream come true," pointing out that what began as a procedurally generated exploration game has evolved into a fully realized galaxy-building experience.

With the Voyagers update, No Man’s Sky not only redefines starship customization but also cements itself as one of gaming’s most ambitious long-term projects. Voyagers makes the ship itself a true centerpiece of exploration, transforming it into a personal, shared hub for adventures across the stars. As all previous updates for the game, this one is available for free to all those who own the base game.
