All planets will be handcrafted in Star Wars Outlaws

Huge open-world adventures seem to be the trend right now in the world of video games. After Bethesda revealed that Starfield is going to feature a thousand planets with many of them including procedurally generated content, Ubisoft now takes the opposite approach to its upcoming adventure in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Outlaws had a very warm welcome from the fans of the franchise as it opens up a completely new view of the universe created by George Lucas. A brand new story starring a new character sounds quite good in a franchise that has been exclusively controlled by Electronic Arts for many years. Now it's the turn of the creators of Assassin's Creed Mirage to demonstrate that they are also capable of making great Star Wars games.

A different approach

Star Wars Outlaws was presented very recently with a video, but Ubisoft has now started to share more details about the game. In a recent interview, creative director Julian Gerighty talked about the size of the game, which turn out to be bigger than anyone expected.

“It’s a crude analogy, but the size of one planet might be two of the zones in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. It could be two to three zones. But it’s not this sort of epic ‘the whole of England recreated’ approach.”

Those players with experience in the Assassin's Creed series should know that the size depends on what zones he is talking about, but overall the planets will be really big in Star Wars Outlaws. What is even more surprising is that Ubisoft has decided to ditch all forms of procedurally generated content to create these and they will be totally handcrafted. That's rather impressive and it guarantees full control over the type of experience that all players will encounter in the game, but it wouldn´t be fair to compare it to Starfield as we already know that Bethesda's game will feature a ludicrous number of planets to explore.

This kind of approach makes Star Wars Outlaws even more interesting for the huge legion of fans that is waiting to discover if Ubisoft is going to give EA a run for its money in the Star Wars franchise. The success of Star Wars Outlaws will surely determine if there are more Star Wars games coming from the French company in the future.

In any case, we will still have to wait a bit longer to see how everything turns out. You can rest assured that you will find the best prices to buy Star Wars Outlaws cheap with our comparator ahead of its release, whenever that happens.
