New look at Hollow Knight: Silksong with latest screenshots

As a new month kicks off, there have been more and more hints that Hollow Knight: Silksong may arrive sooner than expected. During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo surprised fans with a brief new glimpse of Hollow Knight: Silksong—the long-awaited sequel to one of the most beloved Metroidvania games of all time.

A few days ago, Developer Team Cherry updated the game’s listing on the Japanese Nintendo eShop, and with it came a fresh batch of screenshots that give us an even better look at the game—and tease a few key differences from the original Hollow Knight.
 

The screenshots showcase a remarkable improvement in visual quality, with fans already comparing them side-by-side to Hollow Knight: Silksong’s original 2019 reveal trailer:

The difference is noticeable, with sharper, smoother details and a more vibrant color palette. After years of waiting, it’s finally starting to feel like the time was well spent—and expectations are climbing even higher for what Team Cherry will deliver with this sequel.
 

Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Only Coming to Switch 2?
 

One of the more surprising details spotted on the Nintendo Japan page is that Hollow Knight: Silksong is listed as coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with no mention of the original Switch. This has sparked plenty of speculation that the game might end up being exclusive to the new console—a potential disappointment for those who haven’t made the upgrade yet, especially with ongoing concerns around the Switch 2’s price point.

It’s important to note that Team Cherry has not officially confirmed whether Hollow Knight: Silksong will skip the original Switch. And while these screenshots appear on the Switch 2 listing, there’s still a chance the game could support both platforms. Until we hear something official, fans will just have to sit tight.
