Cyberpunk 2077 can be played like GTA, but not without consequences
If everything had gone as planned, we could already be playing Cyberpunk 2077 right now. But it seems that like a good cheese or a good wine, a good game takes time to refine. More seriously, considering what CD Projekt Red has managed to do with the Witcher series, especially with the latest installment, Cyberpunk 2077 promises to be one of the biggest games of the year, and it would be a shame to rush the release if they feel that the game is not ready.
Meanwhile, we continue to have fresh information about the game. Last week's Night City Wire livestream gave us a little more in-depth insight into the gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077. One of the key pieces of information regarding the game is not exactly new since it was revealed last year: Cyberpunk 2077 will not have a moral system as it happened with The Witcher 3. However, this topic has been brought up again due to the words of level designer Max Pears to PCGamesN:
"If you want to go out on a rampage and have no remorse, then you have got the option, and that’s fine with us. However, once you start to play the missions and see the amount of options you have I think that will make players stop and think a little bit before doing something reckless. We’ve seen a lot of people default to that ‘GTA mode’ and then after a little bit they realize how many things are different and adjust how they play.”
Faced with the great freedom of action that Cyberpunk 2077 leaves to the players, the question of playing it like a GTA game arises quite naturally. But Max Pears is pretty clear on this point, the game has nothing to do with the Rockstar series and while it is possible, it seems that it is not the best way to enjoy the game.
