Ghost of Tsushima will have restrictions for crossplay on PC

The recent controversy about Helldivers 2 and the PSN account requirement for Steam players is having an impact on other games too. The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima is a victim of its side effects since developer Nixxes has been forced to react to prevent a similar situation. The epic adventure game set on a small Japanese island will soon be available to play for PC players and there is a sizeable community waiting to immerse into its story. However, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut also features a multiplayer mode called Legends and that's where the problem is. Originally, players would need a PSN account to join the game's multiplayer experience, but Nixxes has opted to change that in a clever way to prevent any kind of hairy situations.

A "Beta" is the solution

On a publication via X, Nixxes has confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut includes the Legends co-op multiplayer mode. It features crossplay between PlayStation platforms and PC. However, this is now a beta feature and you will need a PSN account to share the experience with console players if you are playing the game on PC.

"At launch, cross-play on Legends Mode will be in beta. Cross-play between PS4 consoles, PS5 consoles, and PC is supported when starting a game session by inviting friends on PlayStation Network."

"As previously announced, Legends co-op multiplayer mode will include cross-play between players on PS4 consoles, PS5 consoles and PC. Legends will be functional on PC at launch, but you won't be automatically matched with players on different platforms. Cross-play will launch in beta, meaning you can try it out by inviting your PlayStation Network friends."

The studio has not revealed anything about the future of this "beta", but at least those eager to play Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut on PC know about it before the game is released and they can always play through the game's campaign and with other players on the same platform if they chose not to use a PSN account.
