Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds launched in early 2025 to strong critical reception, but its player base has since grown frustrated over mounting issues. Now, an accidental slip-up from the official PlayStation website—since taken down—has revealed the contents and release date for Title Update 2 ahead of schedule. The major update is set to arrive on June 30, bringing new content and system improvements that may help restore goodwill among the game’s increasingly vocal community.
According to the leaked image, Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 will reintroduce two fan-favorite monsters: the sea serpent-like Lagiacrus and another creature strongly believed to be Seregios, based on datamined files. Players can also expect an Arch-Tempered version of Uth Duna in a new event quest, which will reward a unique gamma variant armor set. One of the most requested features—Layered Weapon customization—is also finally being added, allowing hunters to change a weapon’s appearance without affecting its stats.
These updates couldn’t come at a more critical time. The game has recently suffered a wave of negative Steam reviews, pushing its user score into “Overwhelmingly Negative” territory. Players have reported numerous technical problems, including crashes, frame rate issues, and outdated visuals—particularly on PC. Console users have also noted performance drops on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside disappointing multiplayer stability.
Beyond performance, longtime fans have taken issue with design choices that prioritize accessibility over the franchise’s signature difficulty. Many feel Monster Hunter Wilds oversimplifies combat and gathering mechanics, making it the “easiest” entry yet. Combined with a limited monster roster, overly scripted early-game sequences, and unskippable cutscenes, some suspect the game may have launched prematurely.
Capcom hopes to reverse the trend with free content like gestures, new cosmetic rewards such as the Doshaguma Mask, and paid DLC extras. But whether Title Update 2 is enough to bring back lapsed hunters remains to be seen.
