Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 brings big PC stability changes

Monster Hunter Wilds Update 4 targets major performance fixes

Monster Hunter Wilds is entering a critical phase as Capcom prepares to roll out free Title Update 4 on December 16, 2025. The update brings not only new content and gameplay adjustments, but also a strong push toward stability and performance improvements across all platforms. With the patch just days away, Capcom has shared additional technical details to help players prepare—particularly PC users running mods.

While the game has continued to perform well commercially, lingering performance concerns—especially on Steam—have kept Update 4 under intense scrutiny. Capcom is clearly treating this patch as a foundation update, aimed at restoring confidence and improving the game’s long-term health.

Update 4 Focuses on Performance, Stability, and Mod Compatibility

According to Capcom, Title Update 4 introduces wide-ranging CPU and GPU optimizations designed to reduce processing strain during combat, monster AI calculations, and UI rendering. Many heavy processes have been redistributed across frames, helping smooth out spikes that previously caused stutters or frame drops. Memory usage has also been reviewed, with further reductions applied to improve overall stability.

The update will require a sizable download, particularly on PC. Players should expect roughly 12GB for the standard patch, with an additional 9GB required if using the high-resolution texture pack. Capcom recommends updating graphics drivers ahead of time—specifically NVIDIA driver version 581.57 or newer, and AMD Adrenalin 25.9.1 or later. Notably, some issues have been confirmed on certain AMD driver versions, so users are advised to update carefully.

PC players using mods are also being warned in advance. Capcom has stated that unofficial mods are not guaranteed to function after Update 4 and may cause crashes or prevent the game from launching. Players encountering issues are advised to remove all mods, verify game files through Steam, and relaunch the game before troubleshooting further.

Online play will be unavailable during scheduled maintenance ahead of launch, though offline play will remain accessible. Once the update is installed, players can confirm they are running version 1.040.00.00 via the title screen.

With additional PC-focused optimizations planned for January and February 2026, Update 4 represents the first major step in Capcom’s broader performance roadmap.
