Everyone knows that Stellar Blade was a massive hit for Korean studio Shift Up upon release. The game sold over a million units within its first two months and quickly became one of PlayStation’s top-selling titles of the year. Its success helped Shift Up chairman and founder Kim Hyung-tae reach a net worth of $725 million, making him one of South Korea’s wealthiest individuals.
Given the scale of its success, a sequel always felt inevitable—and now, it's official. Shift Up has confirmed that a follow-up to the hit action title is in development.
During a recent corporate presentation, Shift Up walked investors through its recent financial milestones, awards, and future plans. In that presentation, the company revealed that multiple projects are currently in the works. These include continued development for the mobile hit Goddess of Victory: Nikke, a new IP currently codenamed “Project Witches,” and the future of the Stellar Blade franchise.
Most notably, under the Stellar Blade section, Shift Up outlined plans for both platform expansion and a full sequel, with a target release window set for before 2027. That means Stellar Blade 2 could potentially arrive as early as 2026.
While development timelines are always subject to change—especially in today’s dynamic market—it’s clear that Shift Up intends to capitalize on Stellar Blade’s success and further refine the formula. Expectations will undoubtedly be high, and fans are already eager to see how the sequel will build upon the foundations of the original—in both gameplay and storytelling.
With Stellar Blade 2 now officially in the pipeline and new IPs on the horizon, it’s clear that Shift Up has ambitious plans for the next few years. Whether you're a fan of their past work or new to their games, there’s plenty to look forward to as the studio continues to expand its presence in the global gaming industry.
