Every employee reportedly received a bonus of around ₩5 million, which comes out to roughly $3,400 each. With the studio sitting at over 700 staff, that’s a serious payout and a strong signal that the company is willing to share success internally. The recognition didn’t stop at the money. CEO Heo Jin-young also thanked employees directly, highlighting the effort that went into turning things around after launch. That part matters. Crimson Desert didn’t land perfectly on day one, but the team moved fast with patches, fixes, and content updates that kept players engaged instead of pushing them away. That kind of response doesn’t happen without people grinding behind the scenes.
A lesson other AAA games should pay attention to
There’s something here that other big-budget games could learn from. You don’t need to look far for examples of titles that launched in rough shape and took months—or years—to recover. Cyberpunk 2077 is probably the most obvious case. It eventually became a great experience, but the road there was long and messy, and the conversation around it was dominated by what went wrong.
