Ubisoft presents Assassin's Creed Shadows

A couple of days ago Ubisoft surprised us by announcing a name change that turned Assassin's Creed Codename Red into Assassin's Creed Shadows. The developer also announced a reveal that would shed some light on the new installment in the popular series. The worldwide premiere took place yesterday and left us with a spectacular video. Assassin's Creed Shadows will take players to Japan during the end of the Sengoku period, a time when the country was immersed in a cruel civil war. With several factions fighting for power and the future of the country at stake, the role of the Assassins will be decisive in this epic adventure.

Two protagonists

Assassin's Creed Shadows will follow the story of Naoe, an expert Assassin shinobi from Iga province, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legends. Not many details about the story have been revealed but Ubisoft has confirmed that you can play as any of them through a variety of missions as you progress in the game. Also, those who loved the classic stealth-based gameplay style from Assassin's Creed Mirage will be happy to know that Assassin's Creed Shadows will let you fight the way you choose. However, the stealth mechanics will be far more realistic and complex than in any previous game in the series, which is something that the fans will love. The game has room for stealth but also for a more direct approach to combat, like the one players could enjoy in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

When it comes to the two protagonists, Ubisoft has also revealed another video that reveals many details about them.

Each of the characters will embrace a unique gameplay style, with Naoe focusing on stealth and assassination and Yasuke being a brutal melee fighter.

“With Naoe, they will experience refined infiltration mechanics using light, noise, shadows, and changing surroundings to avoid detection from enemies. With Yasuke, they will be able to take on larger groups of enemies with brutal precision.”

Assassin's Creed Shadows looks quite promising so far and it seems to have all the elements needed to become one of the most important games in the series, including a unique setting that will appeal to many fans. Now, you just need to wait until November 15th to play the game. Meanwhile, you can keep track of the best deals on Assassin's Creed Shadows with our comparator and even pre-order the game for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S already.
